Presenting your company, club or organization on social media is free. Why should you also have your own website?

Let’s start with Facebook and LinkedIn. They are both fantastic products. Facebook was started to keep in touch with friends all over the world. Today it is a platform used by private individuals, companies and voluntary organisations.

LinkedIn was launched in 2003 and is aimed at professionals and businesses. LinkedIn markets itself as the professional social media. It is also the oldest of the major networks in use today. LinkedIn was launched nine months before Facebook.

A familiar platform

You probably use Facebook privately and that is precisely why you know how new messages and other information are posted. You may use LinkedIn to connect with like-minded people in the industry you are in.

According to Hubspot, 56% of Facebook users use the platform to obtain information. Hubspot is a customer relationship management (CRM) solution.

An example of information could be new training times or the equivalent from the club.

Social media will be attractive

Because companies and organizations are important to the social platform, they often make small changes in design. Then companies around the world continue to use the solution.

According to Facebook, 3 million companies use their platform as a marketing platform. According to their own figures, 200 million companies have a page on the social media.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, the company increased its advertising revenue by 31% from the previous year. Revenue was nearly $27.2 million, according to an investor announcement from Facebook.

Stable

Until 2021, Facebook has been a very stable platform. It’s not surprising as the company operates around 18 data centers around the world.

When social media went down in October 2021, several organizations considered whether the social platform was the best solution.

The social platform was unavailable for around eight hours. It was the first time the company had such a long downtime.

Many users

With almost three billion monthly active users on Facebook, there are great opportunities to reach out to new members or customers.

With its user base, the platform is the largest social network in the world.

In 2021, LinkedIn had over 800 million users in more than 200 countries. The figure retrieved on 12 January 2022.

At the same time, the size of the social platforms is a disadvantage.

News are drowning

Facebook’s billion users publish a lot. For that reason, messages or news from you to members, new members or new customers can disappear in the multitude of messages.

According to the marketing company Wishpond, the average number of daily messages shown to a user is around 1,500. Figures they have obtained show that the like button is pressed 4.5 billion times a day, or over three million “likes” per minute. Wishpond is a major player in digital marketing

We also see that many users do not follow as many companies on Facebook. Instead, they choose to like the company. This also means that messages from the club or company do not reach everyone connected to you.

In the US it is a little different. Here, figures Hootsuite has collected show that almost 50% of companies use the platform to conduct surveys about other companies. Hootsuite is a service used to publish messages on various social media.

LinkedIn better for businesses

Hubspot has done a survey which showed that LinkedIn was 277% more effective in obtaining “leads” than Facebook and Twitter.

At the same time, the platform is rarely used. It is estimated that users of what is marketed as the largest professional social platform spend 17 minutes on the social media per month.

According to LinkedIn itself, their platform is considered a very credible source of content.

No control

It is also Facebook that controls how the platform should look. You therefore have no opportunity to influence the design. No one will be able to see a company’s Facebook page where the company has been able to define the company’s own colors so that the page fits their profile.

Nor do you know what changes will come when the platform is updated.

If the platform were to go down again, you also have no idea how long it will take to solve the problem. Fortunately, you know that Facebook will do what they can to get up as quickly as possible.

Website for the organization
